Manchester United Secure Signing of Dutch Forward Joshua Zirkzee

Manchester United have finalised the signing of Dutch striker, Joshua Zirkzee, from Bologna in a deal worth over £35 million.

The agreement, which exceeds Zirkzee’s £34-million release clause, allows United to spread the payments over three years. The 23-year-old forward has agreed to personal terms and is expected to sign a contract that will run until 2029, with an option for an additional year.

Zirkzee arrived in England last night, Thursday 11 July, and will undergo a medical today. The transfer will make him the Red Devil’s first signing of the mid-year transfer period.

He recently featured in the Netherlands squad at Euro 2024, stepping in as a late injury replacement. Despite the Dutch side’s semi-final exit, Zirkzee’s performances have placed him in the spotlight.

Man United’s move for Zirkzee comes after the departure of Anthony Martial, whose injury struggles left the squad reliant on new signee Rasmus Hojlund last season.

Zirkzee’s addition is expected to bring depth and versatility to the attack. He scored 12 goals and provided seven assists during the previous season, playing a key role in Bologna’s surprising fifth-place finish in the Serie A tournament.

Zirkzee will join United’s pre-season tour in Los Angeles, California later this month, providing a timely boost to the squad ahead of the new season.
